Sample Interview Questions

Behavioral/Situational Questions:

  1. Sustain Focus on Performance: Describe a situation in which a project you were managing was not progressing as you expected (e.g., deadlines threatened, poor quality, unexpected problems, etc.). What did you do? How did it work out?
  2. Decision Making: Describe a complicated problem you have had to deal with on your job. How did you identify or gain a better understanding of that problem? What was the result?
  3. Manage Change: Describe a way in which you worked with your team members to develop new and creative ideas to solve business problems. What was your approach? What was the outcome?
  4. Encourage Open Discussion & Debate: Provide an example about a meeting or presentation where you had to alter your communication to ensure the audience understood your ideas. What steps did you take to do that? How was it received?
  5. Foster Innovation/Creativity: Describe how you improved the productivity/profitability of your work unit. How did you identify these opportunities for improvement?
  6. Demonstrate Strategic Agility: Describe a situation in which you had to adjust quickly to a significant change in your organization, department, or team priorities. How did the change affect you? What did you do?
  7. Align Across Company: Describe a situation when you became frustrated or impatient when dealing with an internal partner. What did you do? How did it work out?
  8. Willingness to Confront: Provide an example of a time when the value of an idea was met with opposition from your manager or a client. How did you mange this opposition?
  9. Caution: Discuss a time when you questioned your choices and hesitated on taking action on an important decision?
  10. Follow Through: Describe a time when you had conflicting priorities? How did you decide which things to do first and which to tend to later?
